Project 5: Exercise Training and Cardiovascular Risk
March 2025
HK 413: Chronic Disease Epidemiology Course Project

I reviewed results from the CardioRACE trial, which compared aerobic, resistance, and combined exercise training in adults with overweight and obesity. Aerobic and combined programs showed the strongest improvements in cardiovascular risk, blood pressure, and aerobic capacity.

I also noted that even small reductions in body fat were linked to better cardiometabolic outcomes, and participants in the aerobic and combined groups were more likely to reduce medication use. These findings support making aerobic exercise a core part of training plans.
